A powerful collaboration exploring the isolating experience of being boxed into stereotypes as professional musicians and songwriters
COLUMBUS, OH (January 16, 2026) — Matthew Morgan, an indie, alternative, and folk troubadour from Columbus, Ohio, collaborates with award-winning singer-songwriter and community leader Jamie Ravine on a new single, “In The Blood”, out January 16, 2026 on all major streaming platforms. Shaped by the challenges independent artists face in today’s music industry, “In The Blood” explores themes of resilience and the isolating experience of being boxed into stereotypes as a professional musician and songwriter.
The collaborative track highlights both artists’ strengths as indie rock and folk songwriters, while drawing subtle inspiration from the retro synth textures of the ‘80s and ‘90s that shaped their musical upbringing. With these instrumental choices, Morgan and Ravine aim to utilize bold sonic elements to make a confident declaration that this is who they are and they’re proud of what they do as singer-songwriters.

No one else has the right to define you. You owe it to yourself and the world to be comfortable in your own skin and to draw power and motivation from the blood that runs through your veins.
Morgan explains. Ravine also adds that one should
be authentically, unapologetically, and wildly you! People are going to try and pull you down, but that just means you're doing something worth noting.
Morgan and Ravine feel that musicians are often misunderstood due to the perceived instability of pursuing a music career. Fortunately, Morgan discovered a sanctuary called "Green Room" in Columbus, Ohio, founded by Ravine. Created as a supportive space for musicians to be seen, heard, and valued, Green Room has grown into a vital community hub, offering connection and encouragement amid an increasingly challenging music industry landscape. As venues close, streaming payouts shrink, public arts funding disappears, and AI threatens creative labor, Green Room has become a stronghold for independent artists banding together. Today, the community includes over 400 members online, with more than 50 musicians gathering in person each month.

About Matthew Morgan
Matthew Morgan is an indie, alternative, and folk artist inspired by the timeless songwriting of Nick Drake and Neil Young. Morgan’s music allows his baritone voice to float above delicate arrangements, while emphasizing a warm and soulful character. A natural storyteller whose songs feel less like narratives and more like impressionistic paintings, Morgan is also a multi-instrumentalist, crafting his music with guitar, piano, organ, harmonica, and a range of other instruments. His previous full-length album, Timepiece, released independently in October 2023, received positive reviews and charted at #24 on the FAI Folk Radio charts. Written in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, it reflects the emotional highs and lows of a deeply challenging period, while also highlighting Morgan’s commitment to creating songs that allow everyone to be seen, especially giving a voice to the outliers and members of marginalized communities.
About Jamie Ravine
Jamie Ravine is an award-winning singer-songwriter, performer, and music community leader who loves sharing her passion for music in Columbus, Ohio. Through emotionally rich and memorable melodies, Ravine’s musicality allows her to bring her originals into the recording studio and into acoustic performances. The artist is currently collaborating with producer Brian Skeel and numerous talented local musicians on a solo progressive concept album. Drawing inspiration from artists like Florence and the Machine, the new project will carry a ‘60s, Beatles-influenced psychedelic rock energy, which Ravine hopes to release in 2027. In addition to writing, Ravine supports the Columbus music community by hosting a monthly gathering for musicians, called Green Room, a space for like-minded musicians to network and strengthen relationships in the local scene. The community now has 400 members, growing from eight when it was first established in 2022. This project quickly became a support hub for artists in Central Ohio.
