'Send The Rain' gives listeners a taste of what's to come from Nelleke's upcoming EP release: bird /on concrete
Rotterdam, NETHERLANDS (April 28, 2023) - Netherlands Indie-Folk artist Nelleke is releasing her new single 'Send The Rain,' which is part of her full EP slated to launch in early September. The track was written as a fictional confrontation with a person. One of the questions Nelleke asked herself while writing the lyrics was, "What would I say to someone who has hurt me?" The song expresses a cry for clarity and starting over. Within the melancholy verses, the artist yearns to be able to see the world through rose-colored glasses once again. The track ends on an optimistic note, creating a perspective that embraces the romanticism within this life. Nelleke reflects on her work and states that, "The end of 'Send The Rain' is a celebration of messiness."
The beginning of this single comes off as a folk-based acoustic guitar song, mainly focused on sentiment of the words, reflecting a poem-like structure. Nelleke summons conflicting feelings with a driven acoustic guitar and echoey voices in the distance. The singer expresses a feeling of weightlessness while her and the other character in the song dive into the water. To end the narrative created within the sing, Nelleke included synthesized rhythms to represent celebration and an upbeat tone.
"Send The Rain is the climax moment of my upcoming EP, and the song that represents duality in its purest form," says Nelleke, "The vocal expression in the song is raw and gut-wrenching, emphasizing the emotions associated with frustration and struggle." Nelleke wants her listeners to see this new single as the perfect introduction to her debut EP, 'bird /on concrete,' which will release in September of this year. The EP features themes of duality: calmness versus anger, masculinity versus femininity, and more.
