Virginia-based folk-americana artist steps into her own voice with a genre-defying record about love, loss, career, and the complicated pull of home

The title track, "Rhinestones,” wades through the troubled headspace that I find myself in when I'm questioning the milestones of my career. I can get caught up in the glamour, the aesthetics, and the perceived success of my music instead of grounding myself in the simple blessing of connecting with others through song. Sometimes the negative self-talk, social media comparisons, impossible double standards for women in music, and spinning wheels make the disappointments feel insurmountable. But every time I perform and am able to share my music with people, I am reminded that my music is a calling and it’s a privilege to make art for a living. The fire to make music burns brightly in my spirit whether or not I fit the narrow industry standard of a star. As an independent woman in music, sometimes "my rhinestones won't stick, my diamonds won't shine, and my sequins catch in my hair,” but I don’t intend on stopping anytime soon.
Lunsford explains the purpose behind her title track.

This album feels like a snapshot of life in my 30’s: we wind through career highs and lows, searching for a romantic love, finding a life partner, fighting and making up with my mom, accepting my identity in a big city while mourning the loss of my quaint hometown ties, and welcoming community and friendship as absolutely vital pillars for my wellbeing.
