ASHEVILLE, NC / VERO BEACH, FL (September 27, 2024) – Today, acclaimed singer-songwriter Steve Erickson unveils ‘Retrospective’, a carefully curated collection of songs that capture over a decade of his musical journey.
Featuring 15 original tracks, the album spans parts of his career from 2012 to 2024, offering listeners a deep dive into his distinctive blend of folk, Americana, blues, and country.
‘Retrospective’ gathers original standout songs from Erickson’s earlier albums, ‘It’s About Time’, ‘Music Tonight’, ‘Moving On’, and his latest release ‘Crooked Road’, which shares a contemporary perspective on traditional Appalachian music. Each track showcases Erickson’s signature storytelling, weaving together themes of love, loss, resilience, and the passage of time.
It's been great to take stock after producing four albums to present a larger collection of these songs. After a decade of recording, it seemed like the right time to review some of my favorites.”
- Singer-Songwriter Steve Erickson
Tracks like “All or Nothing” and “Living in Tune” bring to mind a timeless sound, reminiscent of classic Americana artists, while songs such as “One Port Ahead of the Storm” and “Wind Across the Jetty” paint vivid landscapes through Erickson’s rich, evocative lyrics. The rowdy roadhouse song, “Music Tonight,” is fun and uplifting while the thought-provoking protest song, “Higher Ground,” explores current conflicts. His meticulous approach to production is evident throughout the retrospective, with a rich array of acoustic instruments and contributions from talented musicians.
