The blissful indie-pop anthem "Dialogues With God" launched May 18th.
Los Angeles, CA (May 18, 2023) - Fresh off of a 17-date tour through Mexico and the US, Alex McCue & The Group Activity has just released their new bilingual single, "Dialogues With God," on May 18th. The upbeat track and live studio video were recorded in Valencia, Spain, where Alex spent a year studying music production and soaking up the vibrant sounds of the city. The lyrics bounce back and forth between English and Spanish, and the melody contains a jazzy overtone, paying homage to the dynamic influence of Valencian culture and McCue's time in Mexico. The single features Alex McCue on vocals and guitar, Diego Gutierrez on Trumpet, Cristian Delabela on Bass, and Marcos Regidor on Drums.
The lyrics behind this tune tap into themes of meditation, self-worth, encouragement, dreams vs reality, and a blossoming, unconventional connection with divinity. McCue sings: "Dialogues with God, at least I think I speak Her language, it's something like brail, but it constantly changes..." The tune blends modern rhythms with old-school grooves, transporting listeners through time to emphasize a sense of togetherness in appreciation for music.
The members of The Group Activity often rotate depending on time and place, which gives their music a diverse, eclectic sound that keeps listeners on their toes. "Dialogues With God" fuses fun with introspection, incorporating profound lyrics into a jazzy, indie-pop anthem. McCue’s smooth vocals bounce off of the trumpet, bass, and drums, creating an exploratory experience that will leave listeners feeling joyful, motivated, and inspired. The trumpet and vocals balance on top of the tight-knit rhythm section, ebbing and flowing between staccato and loose beats.
Alex McCue & The Group Activity look up to timeless musical influences such as Carole King, Natalia Lafourcade, Tom Misch, Jack Johnson, and more. The band intertwines new-age funk with catchy yet meaningful lyrics that fuel the soul.
