Loose Bolts drops dreamy alt-rock single ahead of Fall 2023 EP release
Nashville, TN (May 24, 2023) - Rising Indie Pop artist Loose Bolts is releasing a new track, "Could I Stay Here?" on May 24th. The track was written from a place of nostalgia and reflection on the state of mind he would find himself in as an inexperienced young man, dipping his toes into the world of romance. This track is the first "act" in Loose Bolts' upcoming Fall 2023 EP, "Temerity." Temerity will serve as a deep dive into his formative emotional struggles as he discovers how naive and flawed his perspective once was, ultimately leading to revelations in the areas of self-awareness, and the importance of taking risks in life.
"Could I Stay Here?" is meant to soundtrack a "first love" story, where every experience feels simultaneously indulgent and addicting. The artist explains that the 1st verse of this song references his tendencies to be overzealous and allow anxiety to get the best of him (in an endearing but unknowingly toxic way). This is emphasized by the 2nd verse and bridge, both referencing the grandiose nature of a first love/relationship and how it can be all-consuming yet electrifying. The tune is a bittersweet reminiscence of the past and is reinforced by an instrumental that echoes classic 2000's Indie/Emo sounds from iconic groups such as The Strokes & Dashboard Confessional, combined with the faded splendor of bands like The 1975 or The Cure.
Loose Bolts layers sonic elements such as guitar, bass, drums, synthesizers, and vibraphone to create an airy, crunchy groove that carries the track. This evolves into a whirling, shoegaze-inspired staccato explosion. That is, until the very end, where it’s just him and his acoustic guitar, suggesting to the listener that this beautiful experience may have just been a farce after all. In the words of the singer, "It's a perfect track for your daily run, a drive to the beach, or a skate to the dispensary."
This catchy and captivating opening track is an ode to his former misconceptions of life and love; All of the excitement, the insecurities, the misdirected passion, and most importantly, the earnestness of it all. If the wide-eyed, unbridled version of your younger self dealt with social anxiety and a lot of rejection, you might find the sentiments displayed pretty relatable.
