The Trouble Notes Fuse Hip-Hop and Bluegrass Rhythms for "Banjolorian", Announce North American Tour

BERLIN, GERMANY (March 3, 2023) - Sitting between traditional folk, modern classical, and tribal dance music, The Trouble Notes’ newest single “Banjolorian” showcases a playful mix of traditional folk instruments and hip-hop grooves, juxtaposing rural Americana folk and urban rhythms that have been a driver behind the group’s unique sound. The vision for the song came together while traveling extensively in the American west during their Lose Your Ties tour in 2019. In typical “Trouble” fashion, they met brilliant musicians from both the Hip-hop and Folk scenes that shaped the vision for the song, dreaming to create something that would fuse the two genres together.

Banjolorian is playful and light-hearted on the surface, but beneath the uplifting melodies is a deep appreciation for the traditions of the genres. “Growing up in the Midwest of America, I was exposed to a wide range of musical influences. Yes, I studied classical music, but my music collection was highlighted by Americana, Rock, and Hiphop records,” says violinist Bennet Cerven. “It was these influences that led me to shape the repertoire of The Trouble Notes. 'Banjolorian' is a nod to those formative years of my life.”

With this release, The Trouble Notes are also announcing their return to North America with the ‛More Violins, Less Violence’ tour slated for the fall of 2023. Showcasing songs from their second studio album Liberty Awaits and spanning 13 dates from October through November, the band is eager to reunite with their Troublemakers in the US and Canada. Carrying a message of “unity in diversity,” their repertoire brings the traditions of Europe and the Americas together, featuring songs like “Grand Masquerade” and “Never Dream Alone” that have amassed millions of views and listens worldwide.

In 2017, a series of videos of the band performing on the streets in France and Germany went certified viral, amassing more than 100 million views on social media and bringing them international notoriety. They recorded their debut album ‛Lose Your Ties’ at Riverside Studios in Berlin, Germany working with Lebanese producer, Khalil Chahine. The album was released in February 2018 and peaked in the top 10 of the iTunes charts for their genre in France, Germany, and the USA. Their music has been featured in award-winning films and documentaries, and their headline “Lose Your Ties” Tour featured sold-out concerts in Europe and North America.
