He was inspired to write the song after having an instantaneous connection with a girl he met. At that point in time, Matthews had given up on looking for love, and that’s when love found him. Matthews explains “Everyone has an image in their heads of what their ideal partner would be, and we hope and pray that we find that person someday. We've already fallen for them, but we don't always get the chance to meet them in real life. I was waiting to fall for her in real life, and I was lucky enough to find her and have that happen.”
